It equips students with a diverse skill set, enabling them to explore various career paths: from independent artistic practice to professional photography, from illustrating for publishing companies to creating comic books.

Requirements
To be admitted to the First-Level Academic Diploma Programme in Painting and Visual Arts, applicants must hold a secondary school diploma or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad, recognised as suitable. Students who have obtained an Artistic Maturity Diploma, an Applied Arts Diploma, an Art Institute Licence, or have attended an Experimental Artistic High School are granted direct admission. Students holding a secondary school diploma in a non-artistic or unrelated field, or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad, recognised as suitable, must pass an admission test to enrol in the course. The admission test consists of a motivational interview and an assessment of the fundamental knowledge required to successfully follow the programme. Basic knowledge can be evaluated through a technical test (either in person or online) or through the discussion of a portfolio.
The course begins with an introductory phase dedicated to exploring the main artistic expression techniques. During this stage, students study traditional techniques such as drawing, oil painting, and watercolour, alongside contemporary methods including digital art, multimedia installation, and video art. This approach enables students to develop a strong technical foundation, serving as the starting point for the subsequent personalisation of their academic journey.
One of the most significant aspects of the Painting and Visual Arts programme is its strong workshop-based approach, where students work closely with lecturers who are also experienced artists and academics. This hands-on teaching method, enriched by the techniques and expertise passed down through academic tradition, enables students to learn directly in the field, within an environment that fosters creativity and innovation.

Specializations
The BA in Painting and Visual Arts is structured into two main parts, offering students a gradual progression from foundational knowledge to specialization.
During the first year, students are introduced to a wide range of techniques and styles. These include oil painting, photography, watercolor, digital art, multimedia installations, comic creation, drawing, and illustration.
This foundational phase aims to develop technical proficiency and creative versatility, providing students with the tools to begin tailoring their artistic journey. The exposure to various media ensures they build a solid base upon which to experiment and grow.
From the second year onward, students select one of three specialized majors.
This allows them to focus on their personal interests and develop their unique artistic identity.

Painting
This specialization emphasizes the mastery of painting techniques. Through practical exercises and workshops, students explore different styles, materials, and supports, culminating in the development of a distinctive aesthetic voice.
Photography and Visual Arts
This specialization exploits the expressive potential of technology, combining traditional photography and videomaking with cutting-edge tools like AI-assisted computer art and multimedia installations. Students explore visual storytelling and digital experimentation, preparing them for innovative roles in the art world.
Comics and Illustration
Designed for those passionate about visual storytelling, this specialization equips students with the skills to create editorial illustrations and comics. Through character creation and narrative development, students learn to communicate ideas and emotions effectively. Graduates are prepared to excel in both traditional and digital publishing sectors, working on comics, cartoons, and illustrations.

Graduates of the BA in Painting and Visual Arts enjoy diverse career paths. They can work as independent artists, photographers, illustrators, or comic book creators. Opportunities also exist within the cultural sector, both in public institutions and private enterprises.
The program serves as a robust foundation for those wishing to pursue further education, such as a Master of Arts at prestigious universities in Italy or abroad.
