Claudio Papa

He was born in Catania on May 5th 1964. Industrial Designer with l’I.S.I.A. in Rome in 1990. He collaborated with Piaggio to design a new scooter in order to write his doctoral thesis. Later on he worked for two years as a designer at the Style Center of Piaggio European vehicles. While he was studying he started a collaboration with several Italian companies increasing his expertise and professionalism in different sectors. The most significant ones were interior furnishing ( furniture, sofas, armchairs, lamps, kitchen accessories) and bathroom furniture (furniture, accessories, bathroom fittings, bathtubs and methalcrylate spa-tubs, bath taps).
In 2003 he directed a course on experimental technologies and planning with the Università degli studi La Sapienza in Rome, degree course in industrial design.
Between February and June of 2007 he taught planning/presentation classes at the premises of Aquaart (Glass/Faro dealer for East Europe) in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Kiev.
From June 2013 to December 2017, he was in charge of articles on design in the “Vista Casa” design and furniture magazine.
In 2015, he directed a course of Universal Design and Interior Design, with IED in Venice (Istituto Europeo di Design).
In May 2016, he hosted a radio show on design and furniture, “Casa 2.Zero”  broadcasted on Radio Punto (Tre Venezie).
In May 2016, he was the Director of the department of Planning and Applied Arts of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Udine G.B. Tiepolo (ABA UD).
In April 2017 he was invited to teach some classes on Italian design in the main universities of China.
Since 2018 Papa has been hired by Albatros, leading company in the wellness sector, as artistic director for the re-launch of the company.

Awards:
In 2006 and in 2007 he was awarded the Best Bathroom Design Award with the “Class 05” line, designed for Azzurra Ceramica.
In 2017 and in 2018 he was awarded the European Product Design Award for Finikia and Katamaran bathroom fixture lines, designed for Ege Vitryfie,
In 2018 with Hammam Plus, a new concept of Turkish Baths for the house designed for Albatros. He was selected for the ADI design Index 2019, final selection for the Compasso d’Oro Award.

In 2019, still with Hammam Plus he won again the European Product Design Award in the Home Interiors Product category.

In 2019 at Cersaie, he won the ADI Ceramics & Bathroom Design Award for innovation and best project category with the patented Secret System applied to Syraka and Modula F bathtubs, but also for the Modula Pool mini pool, all of them designed for Albatros.
All these aknowledgements will put him in 2020, for the second consecutive edition, inside the ADI design index and select him for the following final selection for the Compasso d’Oro.
